Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Öğrencilerinde Hepatit A ve Hepatit B Seroprevalansının Değerlendirilmesi
Ancak çeşitli nedenlerle 250 öğrenciden 201‘i çalışmaya dahil edildi (201/250).
Evaluation of Seroprevalence of Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B in Dentistry Faculty Students
Objective: Health personnel carry an occupational risk in terms of infectious hepatitis A and hepatitis B virus infections that are frequently exposed to blood, body fluids and tissues. This study was aimed to evaluate the seroprevalence of hepatitis A and hepatitis B in order to detect these infections which are likely to be exposed to professional life in dental school students. Methods: This research was designed as a descriptive and cross-sectional study, and was conducted between February 7, 2017 and April 31, 2017. The universe of study was formed by all the students who attended to Necmettin Erbakan University, Faculty of Dentistry on the specified dates. But for a variety of reasons, 201 of 250 students were included in this study. Results: The mean age of the participants was 19.7 ± 1.49 years and 68.7% women (n = 138), 31.3% men (n= 63) and when the immune status of the students was examined; HBsAg negative in 100.0%, anti HBs positive in 93.5% and anti HAV IgG positive in 24.9%. There was no statistical relationship between gender and serum antiHBs and anti- HAV IgG levels (p>0,05). There was no statistically significant relationship between family type and class, parental education status and occupation, and anti-HBs levels (p> 0.05). Father's educational level was observed a statistically significant relationship between the level of anti-HAV IgG. Hepatitis A seronegativity (79,7%) was higher in the children of secondary school and over-educated fathers (p=0.004). Conclusion: In this study, HBs Ag was negative in all students, seropositivity of anti- HBs was 93.5% and seropositivity of anti-HAV Ig G was 24.9%. As well as in hospital staff, it is recommended that dental students should be screened intermittently for seropositivity and vaccination of hepatitis A and B seronegative individuals to prevent occupational risks.
