ISOLATED PERIPHERAL NERVE NEUROPATHY ASSOCIATED WIHT A SINGLE TRAVMA: REPORT OF TWO CASES

The musculocutaneous nerve arises from thelateral cord of the brachial plexus. It innervatesmuscles such as the biceps brachi andbrachialis. Ulnar nerve is the major terminalbranche of brachial Plexus. The deep motorbranch of the ulnar nerve is a terminal primarilymotor branch of the ulnar nerve. At its origin itinnervates the hypothenar muscles. Nerveinjury due to isolated trauma is rarely seen.Musculocutaneous and deep ulnar motorbranch neuropathy can be caused by repetitivetrauma. We present report of two cases of (65year old female and 40 year old male) isolatednerve injury who complaine of atrophy painlessand weakness. Electrophysiological testingrevealed a musculocutaneous and deep ulnarnerve neuropathy. Magnetic resonance imagingand electrodiagnostic studies may be useful indifferentiating between these conditions. In theliterature, there are very few cases in whichısolated lesions of the musculocutaneous anddeep ulnar motor nerves lesion have beenattributed to a single trauma.
