Anti-infective Properties of Cistus Incanus, a Plant Extract

AbstractThe most common diseases in the world are upper respiratory tract infections, resulting in substantial morbidity, mortality, and financial loss. Viruses are reportedto be the most important pathogens involved. Several antiviral compounds have beendeveloped. Cystus052, a plant extract from a special variety of Cistus incanus that is rich in polymeric polyphenols, has been shown to exhibit antiviral activity. In thisarticle, the properties and efficacy of Cistus incanusis reviewed.
