Rational Approach to a Patient with Food Protein İnduced Enterocolitis Syndrome

AbstractFood protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) is a non-IgE-mediated food allergy. Although its pathophysiology is not fully understood, innate immune cellsand cytokines are thought to be activated during FPIES reaction. FPIES can be misdiagnosed as common diseases in childhood like sepsis and acute gastroenteritis. Thismay cause delay in diagnosis. Therefore, the awareness of physicians about FPIES should be increased.
