Aşılama ve Aşıların Tarihçesi

Aşılar, sağlık alanındaki gelişmelerden daha fazla yaşam kurtarmıştır. Modern aşılar,1789’da Jenner’in çiçek aşısını geliştirmesi ile başlamıştır. O tarihten günümüze dek pekçok aşı geliştirilmiştir. Son iki yüzyılda aşılama alanında pek çok gelişme olmuştur. Pekçok ek aşı araştırma ve geliştirilme aşamasındadır. Günümüzde araştırmacılar mevcut aşılarıgeliştirmek ve HIV/AİDS gibi infeksiyonlar, kanserler ve bazı kronik hastalıklar ilesavaşmak için aşı geliştirmeye çalışmaktadırlar.
