Kuraklık, bir bölgedeki yağışın belli bir zaman diliminde uzun yıllar ortalamasından az ve sıcaklığın normalden fazla olmasından dolayı meydana gelen iklim olayıdır. Tarımsal kuraklık hayvancılık ve tarımsal alanda verimin düşmesi, suların azalması, oksijen problemi, stok yoğunluğu gibi nedenlerle balık ölümleri şeklinde kendini gösterebilmektedir. Kuraklığın meteorolojik boyutuyla alakalı hazırlanan bu çalışmada, Van ilinin 2021 yılı kuraklık özelliği ve su kaynakları üzerindeki etkileri ele alınmıştır. Kuraklık analizinde Normalin Yüzdesi İndeksi ilk altı aylık zaman serisi halinde analiz edilmiştir. PNI yönteminde kullanılan tek meteorolojik değişkenin yağış olması nedeniyle Van İlinde 1939-2020 yılları arasındaki yağış verileri kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, Van ilinde 2021 yılının ilk altı ayının 5 ayında şiddetli kuraklık olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bunun sonucu olarak göletlerin bir kısmı kurumuş, bir kısmı ise suyunu büyük oranda kaybetmiştir. Kuruyan göletlerde balıkların tamamı, büyük oranda su kaybetmiş göletlerde ise balıkların bir kısmı ölmüştür.

Drought is a climatic event that occurs because the precipitation in a region is less than the average for many years and the temperature is higher than normal in a certain period of time. Agricultural drought can manifest itself in the form of fish deaths due to reasons such as decreased productivity in livestock and agricultural areas, decrease in water, oxygen problem, stocking density. In this study, which was prepared about the meteorological dimension of drought, the drought feature of Van province in 2021 and its effects on water resources were discussed. In the drought analysis, the Percent of Normal Index was analyzed as a time series of the first six months. Since precipitation is the only meteorological variable used in the PNI method, precipitation data between 1939 and 2020 in Van Province were used. According to the findings, it was determined that there was severe drought in the first six months of 2021 in Van. As a result, some of the ponds have dried up and some of them have lost their water to a large extent. All of the fish died in the dried ponds, and some of the fish in the ponds that lost water to a large extent.
