An Document Analysis of the Current Situation of the Distance Education Centers in Universities in Turkey

In this study, the current situation of variety in education programs implemented by distanceeducation centers were examined. Also, the number of those courses were analyzed statistically.In the study, the data were collected from the centers’ Web sites, the regulations published inthe Official Gazette, and the choice handbook of Assessment, Selection and Placement Centerof Turkey. The examination showed that totally 98 universities – 67 public and 31 private universities – have established distance education centers, and those centers were examinedin this study. According to the statistical data of Council of Higher Education in 2014-2015academic year, there are 59282 students having education through distance learning.
