Dokumacılık Türk tarihinin en eski dönemlerinden beri yapılmaktadır. Bir ihtiyacın gelişerek sanat eserine dönüşünün izleri, tarihin sayfalarında takip edilebilmektedir. Osmanlı arşivlerine bakarak; dokumacılığın, çalışmaya konu olan Trabzon’da da çok geliştiği söylenebilir. Trabzon’un dokuma giysi çeşitleriyle ünlenen Şalpazarı ilçesi, bu araştırmanın evrenini oluşturmakta olup farklı dokuma türlerinden çanta ve çorap, yaygınlığı ve çeşitliliği itibariyle dikkat çekicidir. Sahada yapılan derlemelerle ürünlerin fotoğrafları çekilmiş, envanterleri hazırlanmış, motifleri çıkartılmıştır. Çalışma, dokumanın ve Trabzon’da dokumacılığın tarihsel gelişiminin anlatıldığı bir giriş bölümünden sonra üç ana bölüm ve sonuç kısmından oluşmaktadır. Bu ana bölümler; Şalpazarı yöresine ait dokuma türleri, bu dokumalarda kullanılan motifler ve dokuma örnekleri şeklindedir. Dokuma çeşitlerinden biri olan çanta eskiden taşıma ve saklama amaçlı kullanılırken günümüzde bir aksesuara, hediyelik eşyaya dönüşmüştür. Diğer bir dokuma çeşidi olan çorabın ise günümüzde yapılış amacı değişmemekle birlikte renk ve desenlerinde artışlar olmuştur. Ayrıca her iki dokuma çeşidi de eskiden çeyizin olmazsa olmazı iken günümüzde bu özelliği sadece çorap devam ettirmektedir. İncelemede, çanta ve çoraplardaki motifler hem yöresel ismiyle hem de varsa Türk dünyasındaki benzer motif ismi ile birlikte verilmiştir. Son olarak da ürünler hakkında ayrıntılı bilgiler verilerek ürünler tanıtılmıştır.

Weaving has been done since the earliest period of Turkish history. Traces of a need that turns into an artwork can be traced in the pages of the history. Referring to the Ottoman archives; it can easily be said that the art of weaving was also well-developed in Trabzon, the subject of this study. The country of Trabzon, Salpazarı, which has become famous for its woven garments, constitutes the research domain of this article, and bags and socks attract our attention with their diversity ve commonnness. During the studies in the area, some photographs were taken, their inventories were prepared, and motifs were worked on After an introduction that describes the historical development of weaving in Trabzon, this study consists of three main sections and the conclusion part. These main sections are; types of woven pieces from Salpazarı, the motifs used in these weaves and the samples of fabrics. The bag, as a kind of weaving, was a means of transport and storage once upon a time, but today it has turned into an accessory or a gift. The function of socks, which are an another kind of weaving, has not changed, however; today it has an increase in color and pattern. In addition, while both types of fabrics were used as an essential part of dowry, today only socks are included. In the research, the motifs in bags and socks are named both with their traditional names and , if there are any, with similar motifs in the Turkic World. Finally, detailed information about the products is presented and they are uniquely introduced.
