Turizm Bağlamında İşgören Devri (Turnover) Çalışmalarının Bibliyometrik Analizi: Web of Science Örneği

Bibliometric Analysis of Turnover Studies in the Tourism Context: Web of Science Sample

The competitive environment in the tourism sector forces managers to hire high-performing employees and to ensure the continuity of employees in the business. Although employee turnover is an issue that has been emphasized intensively in the tourism literature, bibliometric studies based on previous scientific research on turnover do not exist in the tourism field. Within this context, the main purpose of the current research is to examine turnover studies in the tourism context using bibliometric analysis. The studies examined within the framework of the research have been obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) academic database. 180 studies have been analyzed using the VOSviewer software. As a result of the analysis, it has been found that 142 studies related to turnover were on the hospitality, entertainment, sports and tourism category, 67 studies on the management category, and 17 studies on the business category. It was detected that a total of 438 authors have conducted research about turnover and "job satisfaction", "hospitality", “hotel” and “tourism and hospitality” concepts are frequently used with turnover. The keyword Turkey has been used three times and the most cited paper is "Job involvement, commitment, satisfaction and turnover: Evidence from hotel employees in Cyprus" by Zopiatis, Constanti and Theocharous (2014) with 173 citations. It has been detected that the countries with the highest number of published studies are China, Turkey, and England, respectively. It is anticipated that the research will both facilitate the identification of new research topics on the subject and contribute to the screening of the literature.
