Skin rashes in COVID-19: A report of three cases

The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that emerged in Wuhan, China in December 2019 quickly escalated to a global pandemic. Several studies have described its typical clinical manifestations, including fever, cough, diarrhea, and fatigue. In this study we characterize the dermatologic aspects of COVID-19 so that dermatologists may be aware of the skin complications and preventive measures to be taken in the COVID-19 pandemic. We examined the skin findings of 3 patients (3 female). None had additional disease. Cutaneous findings included urticarial lesions in 1 patient, vesicular lesions on the oral mucosa in 2 patients. Cutaneous rashes in COVID-19 are primarily non-specific and similar to cutaneous involvement seen in common viral infections. Therefore, dermatologists should include COVID-19 in the differential diagnosis of all skin rashes during the COVID-19 pandemic. This may help avoid delayed diagnosis or misdiagnosis
