Pandemik grip

Mart 2009’da Meksika’nın kuzeyinde ve Kaliforniya’da kümelenme gösteren grip benzeri olguların iki domuz, bir kuş ve bir insan orijinli influenza virüsü ile ortak genom segmentleri içeren dörtlü reassortant (çeşitlenmiş) yapıda “yeni” bir virüs ile ilişkili olduğu saptanmıştır. İlerleyen haftalarda virüsün en az iki kıtada insandan insana bulaş yoluyla yayıldığının tesbit edilmesi üzerine 11 Haziran 2009’da Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (DSÖ) tarafından pandemi alarmı en yüksek düzey olan faz 6’ya yükseltilmiştir. Pandemi dünya genelinde 212’den fazla ülkede milyonlarca grip olgusuna ve en az 16 bin (resmi rakam 15921) teyid edilmiş ölüme yol açmıştır. DSÖ tarafından yapılan 10 Ağustos 2010 tarihli açıklama ile pandeminin sona erdiği ve dünya genelinde “post-pandemik dönem”e girildiği duyurulmuştur. Ülkemizde ilk yerli pandemik grip olgusu 16 Mayıs 2009’da teyid edilmiştir. Kasım 2009’da salgın hızı zirveye ulaşmış ve Sağlık Bakanlığı verilerine göre Türkiye genelinde yaklaşık 6,5 milyon kişinin enfekte olduğu salgında 13,111 olgu hastanelere yatırılmış, 2721 olgu yoğun bakım birimlerinde izlenmiş, 1161 olgu ventilatöre bağlanmış, 656 olgu hayatını kaybetmiştir. Kaybedilen olguların %59,1’ini kronik hastalığı bulunan olgular, %6,1’ini gebe veya lohusa olgular oluşturmuştur. Başlangıçta duyulan kaygıların aksine pandeminin hafif bir şekilde atlatıldığı söylenebilir. Virüs mutasyon geçirip ölümcül bir forma dönüşmemiş, oseltamivir direnci yaygınlaşmamış, üretilen aşı sirküle eden virüs kökenleri ile örtüşerek etkili olmuş ve son derece iyi bir güvenlik profili göstermiştir. 90 yıl önce yaşanan trajik H1N1 pandemisine dair ortak hafızanın ürettiği korku ve kaygılar yüksek iletişim teknolojisi ve yaygın sağlık altyapısının katkıları ile aşılmış ve 2009 pandemisi bir buçuk yıl içinde bilinen mevsimsel grip seyrine geri dönerek insanlık tecrübesine büyük ölçüde bir başarı öyküsü olarak kaydedilmiştir.
