Pinelopi Delta – İon Dragoumis: Talihsiz bir Aşk Hikayesi
20.yüzyıl modern Yunanistan’ının çocuk edebiyatının en önemli yazarı Pinelopi Delta (1874-1941), İon Dragoumis’e karşı büyük platonik bir aşk yaşamıştır. Delta evli ve üç çocuk annesi olduğundan, her ikisi de aşklarını özgür bir şekilde yaşayamamışlardır. Platon’a karşı olan sevgi , τόκος εν καλώ // tokos en kalo yani sadece güzelliğin içinde doğum, manevi dünyada ve fikirler/ idealar dünyasının mutlak güzelliğinde doğum olduğu için mutlak manevi aşkı yaşamaya çalıştılar. Ancak tamamlanamayan bu aşk, Delta’nın psikolojik dünyasına pahalıya patlamıştır. Çünkü yaşadığı dönemin toplumsal kabullerini aşamadığı için kendisini ve onu hiçbir zaman gerçekten sevemediği bir insan ile evlendirdikleri için de ailesini hiçbir zaman affetmedi. Kader her ikisine de acımasız davrandı: İon Dragoumis, 31 Temmuz 1920’de Yunanistan Başbakanı Eleftherios Venizelos’un fanatik destekçileri tarafından öldürüldü ve Pinelopi Delta da, yalnızlığa ve kötü kaderine daha fazla dayanamayarak yıllar sonra İkinci Dünya Savaşı sırasında intihar etti.

Penelope Delta (1874-1941), the greatest writer of Children's Literature in modern Greece of the 20th century, lived a great platonic love affair with Ion Dragoumis. The two were never able to live their love freely since Delta was already married and the mother of three children. They deserved to experience the absolute spiritual love because in any case love for Plato is “τόκος εν καλώ / tokos en kalo”, that is to say more explanatory, birth in the absolute beauty of the spirit and ideas. But this unrequited love came at a high price in the psychological world of Delta, she never forgave herself for not daring to go beyond the social conventions of the time, never forgave her parents for marrying her off to a man she never truly loved. Fate treated both of them harshly: Ion Dragoumis was murdered on July 31, 1920 by the ardent supporters of the Prime Minister of Greece Eleftherios Venizelos, Penelope Delta several years later and more specifically in the middle of the Second World War, she committed suicide, unable to bear the loneliness any longer and her hard luck.
