Günümüzde dünya demir üretiminin %50 sinden fazlasını karşılayan "bantlı demir formasyonu"'sınırlanmıştır. Jeokimya, metamorfizma, yaş, teknoloji ve kökenlerine kısaca değinilen "bantlı demir formaayonu"nun aifer yataklarla ilişkisi tartifilmıştır,
