Bu çalışmada Türkiye'de modernleşme hareketi, Osmanlıların klasik Doğu tarzı devlet yapısını bırakarak Batı tarzı yeni bir yapıya geçme gayretlerine kurumlar açısından bakışa ışık tutmaya çalışılmıştır. Osmanlı modernleşmesinde Batı dillerinden yapılan tercümeler, Avrupa'ya gönderilen öğrenciler, Avrupalı uzmanların İmparatorlukta istihdamları ve seyyahların etkili olduğu tarih araştırmalarından anlaşılmaktadır. Ancak Türkiye'de sistemli ve kalıcı teşebbüsler modern yapıda kurulmuş ve teşkilatlanmış kurumlar sayesinde gerçekleşmiştir. 18. Yüzyılın ilk yarısında kurulan Ulufeli Humbaracı ocağı ve içinde oluşturulan Hendese odası bu kurumlara ilk örnektir. Bunları 1775'te Fransız uzmanlar idaresinde Tersane'de kurulmuş olan Mühendishane takip etmiştir. 19. yüzyılın başlarında Modern tıp mektepleri, teknik okullar ve nihayet Darülfünunun kurulması gelişme ve modernleşmede kısa zaman içerisinde ulaşılan noktayı temsil eder. Teknik ve mesleki eğitimin çeşitli kollarında yeni eğitim kurumları kurulur. 20. yüzyılda ise modern anlamda Osmanlı üniversitesi kurulur. Mühendishaneler, Türkiye'deki teknik okulların, Darülfünun'da üniversitelerin çekirdeğini oluşturur.

In this article, were held on the movement of modernization in Turkey in the light of institutions that were established in the form of western, as well as neglected the classical type of Eastern state politics. In this movement the major role played by the translation of text books from European languages, the student whom sent to Europe capital cities, European experts and adventures, the studies give us many information about its and their impact. But systematically and permanently innovations took place grace the establishing and organizing institutions with modern style in Turkey. The first example of these institutions is the Corps of Bombardier and the Geometry Room that organizing inside of these corps which established in the beginning of 18th century. The Muhendishane which established in 1775, within the superintendent of French experts was followed. The establishing and developing of the school of medicine, the other technical schools and finally university were the symbol of the indicating of the point of the modernization in a short period in Turkey. And rapidly, the new education intuitions were established in the variously branches of the technical and professional education. The first modern Ottoman university namely “Darülfünun” was established, and was the nucleus of the all universities of the Turkey.
