Kadın Araştırmalarında Meta-Diyalojik Yöntem Arayışları: Bir Alan Deneyimi Olarak Otoetnografi

Bu çalışma, alan araştırmalarında feminist yöntem ile kadınlara dair anlatı tekniğini ve metodolojiye ilişkin bilgi edinme yollarını tartışmaktadır. Etnometodolojik bir teamülle, kadın bireylerin kişisel tecrübelerine dayalı nitel kategoride bulunan feminist araştırma yöntemi, alanda hem araştırmacı hem de katılımcı olarak kadınları merkeze almaktadır. Bu doğrusal ilişki, eşitlikçi bilgi akışının gelişmesine olanak tanırken, alanda kurulan karşılıklı diyaloğa dayalı iletişimin de seyrini belirlemektedir. Fakat, cinsiyet çalışmalarında “iz sürücü” olarak alanda bilgi edinmeye çalışan sosyal araştırmacılar, hala feminist araştırma yönteminin epistemolojik geçerliliği üzerine zorluk çekmektedirler. Şüphesiz, bu durum, kadınların tarih sahnesinden tecrit edilmeleriyle beraber, özne konumuna getirilmemiş olmaları gibi katmanlı bir problematik olarak önemini koruyan bir konudur. Sözlü anlatı ve bellek, cinsiyet çalışmalarında salt bilgiyi edinmede araçsal nitelik taşımasının yanı sıra, yöntemi biçimlendirmede de kurucu işleve sahiptir. Karşılıklı etkileşime dayalı olan konuşma ve anlatı, belleği onarma anlamında önemli bir görev üstlenirken, yeni bir tarih yazımı konusunda da oldukça işlevsel bir tekniktir. Kadınların deneyimleri arasında benzerliğe yönelik geçmiş yaşantı ve hala sürmekte olan eylemler, var olana ayna tutmaktan ziyade aktif katılımı gerektirmektedir. Bu istinat noktası, otoetnografiden beslenen özdüşünümselliği (self-reflexivity) zorunlu kılan içeriden bakışı (insider) varsaymakta ve karşılıklı anlaşılma ediminin gerçekleşmesini sağlamaktadır. Buradan hareketle çalışma, Polijini türü evlilik (aynı anda birden çok kadınla evlilik) biçimi olan Kumaolgusunu merkeze alıyor. Yüksek Lisans tez çalışmasındaki sürece dayanan bu makale, sosyal bir araştırmacı olarak yaşanılan zorluklar ve deneyimlenen alan sürecini konu edinmektedir. Eleştirel feminist araştırma yöntemini benimseyen kadınların alanda yaşadığı zorluklara karşı; “kadın öznelerin kendileri hakkında bilgi edinmede nasıl bir yol izlemeleri gerektiği” problematiğine karşı betimleyici (descriptive) bir tartışma yürütülmektedir.

Seeking Meta-Dialogical Method in Women’s Research: Autoetnography As a Field Experience

This study discusses the feminist method, the narrative techniques of women in field studies, and ways to obtain information about the feminist method. The feminist research method is based on the personal experiences of female subjects and uses an ethnomethodological convention, focusing on women as both researchers and participants in the field. While this linear relationship allows an egalitarian information flow to develop, it also determines the course of communication based on mutual dialogue established in the field. However, social researchers trying to gain knowledge in the field as “trackers” in gender studies still have difficulties regarding the epistemological validity of the feminist research method. Undoubtedly, this situation maintains its importance as a layered problematic due to women not having yet been brought into the position of subjects despite being isolated from the stage of history. In addition to being instrumental in acquiring knowledge in gender studies, oral narratives and memories also have a founding function in shaping this method. While speaking, being based on mutual interaction, plays an important role in repairing memory, it is also a very functional technique for writing a new historiography. Past experiences and ongoing actions about the similarities among women’s experiences require active participation rather than mirroring the existing. This point of reference takes the “insider” into consideration, namely by developing self-reflexivity based on autoethnography and includes those who promote the behavior of thoughtfulness. From this point of view, the study focuses on the kuma [concubine/second wife] phenomenon, a form of polygyny (marriage with more than one woman at the same time). Based on the process regarding the master’s thesis, this article deals with the difficulties experienced as a social researcher and what is experienced in the field. In the face of the difficulties experienced by women who adopt the critical feminist research method, this article conducts a descriptive discussion on the problematic of what female subjects should watch for with regard to obtaining information about themselves
