Instant Effect of Chiropractic Upper and Middle Thoracic Zone Manipulations on Autonomic Nervous System
Instant Effect of Chiropractic Upper and Middle Thoracic Zone Manipulations on Autonomic Nervous System
Objective: This study aims to compare the instantaneous effects of chiropractic upper and middle thoracic manipulations on the autonomic nervous system.Material-Method: The study included 30 healthy volunteers aged 18-45 years. Manipulation was applied to the upper thoracic (T1-4) area (n=15, 8 female, 7 male) and to the middle thoracic (T6-9) area (n=15, 7 female, 8 male). Before the application, heart rate, body temperature and skin conductivity (EDA) measurements were performed using the Empatica E4 wristband device. Thoracic HVLA (high velocity low amplitude) manipulation was performed in the supine position. After the application, the measurement made with the Empatica E4 device was repeated. The mean body
