Bu çalışmada coğrafya öğretmenliği lisans programı öğrencilerinin çevre okuryazarlık düzeylerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Veri toplamak için açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan bir anket formu kullanılmıştır. Kullanılan bu anketle katılımcıların kişisel, ailevi, toplumsal, ulusal ve uluslararası çevre okuryazarlıkları tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bunun için katılımcıların çevresel bilgileri; bilgi, kavrama, uygulama, analiz, sentez ve değerlendirme düzeyindeki farklı sorularla sorgulanmıştır. Uzman görüşü alınarak amaca uygun olarak hazırlanan bu anket formu, İstanbul’daki bir devlet üniversitesinin coğrafya öğretmenliği anabilim dalı öğrencilerine 2011-2012 bahar döneminde uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analize tabi tutularak çözümlenmiştir. Konu ile ilgili değerlendirmeler yapılırken doğrudan alıntılar yapılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda katılımcıların çevre okuryazarlıklarının oldukça yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Ancak sınıflara göre anlamlı farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Tespit edilen bu bulgular yorumlanarak sonuçlandırılmış ve önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

In this study, it is aimed to determine the level of the environment literacy of undergraduate students in the geography teaching department. A survey form containing open ended questions used to collect data. In the survey, it is tried to establish the personal, familial, social, national and international environment literacy of the partcipants. Environment knowledge is questioned with the different questions that require knowledge, comprehension, implementation, analysis, synthesis and assessment. For this survey expert opinion took into consideration and the survey was conducted in a geography teaching department in a state university in Istanbul in the 2011-2012 spring semester. Collected data was solved by using descriptive analysis and direct quotations employed to evaluate the findings. After the survey, it is seen that the participants had a high environment literacy, but there was a marked and meaningful difference between the classes. Finally, the study concluded by commenting on the findings and making suggestions
