A High Performance DC/DC Converter Application to Obtain the Maximum Output Power of Solar Cells

The energy produced by solar cells (PV)[1]is influenced by environmental conditions such as temperature and radiation intensity. Therefore, the generated voltage range is variable. The energy produced by solar cells has the maximum value at a certain point. Techniques for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) applied to step down - step up DC/DC converters can be used to increase the efficiency of solar cells. In this paper, a new step down-step up DC/DC converter is proposed which has lower ripple at output voltage and input current compared to the conventional converters. Moreover, the proposed converter has fewer number of keys and thus less dissipation and greater efficiency compared to the conventional devices.[1] Photovoltaic (PV)
