Impact of Supercapacitor on a DC Machine Operation in Stand-Alone Photovoltaic System with a Hybrid Battery-Supercapacitor Storage System.

A hybrid battery-ultracapacitor storage system of a stand-alone photovoltaic energy system with a DC machine was examined. Operation of a DC machine in a system powered by a stand-alone photovoltaic system is our purpose in this study. In this context, the permanent production of the energy necessary for its operation is generated by the hybrid battery- supercapacitor storage system. First, the operation of the DC machine is observed when both the charge of the battery and the nominal voltage of the supercapacitor are zero. After that, the operation of the DC machine is observed when the charge of the battery is zero and the nominal voltage of the supercapacitor is greater than zero. Finally, the operation of the DC machine is observed when the charge of the battery and the nominal voltage of the supercapacitor are greater than zero. Our results were obtained by simulation in order to confirm the contribution of the supercapacitor’s performance and its advantages to the global system. The simulation circuit is attached and the supercapacitor’s contribution is discussed.
