APPLICATION OF HIDDEN MARKOV CHAINS IN QUALITY CONTROL

APPLICATION OF HIDDEN MARKOV CHAINS IN QUALITY CONTROL

The ever growing technological innovations and sophistication in industrial processes require adequate checks on quality. Thus, there is an increasing demand for simple and efficient quality control methods. In this regard the control charts stand out in simplicity and efficiency. In this paper, we propose a method of controlling quality based on the theory of hidden Markov chains. Based on samples drawn at different times from the production process, the method obtains the state of the process probabilistically. The main advantage of the method is that it requires no assumption on the normality of the process output
