A new design micropatch antenna for GPS applications on vehicle navigation systems

A new design of the micropatch antenna for GPS applications is studied. 70antenna iterations working around the L1 band (1575 MHz) with different sizedquarter-circular slots on the patch are designed and simulated. In parallel, “designdimensional parameters (“r” slot radius and “h” substrate thickness) and antennaresonant frequencies according to parameters” are applied to curve fittingalgorithm and an equation for resonance frequency is obtained based on r and h.The resonance frequency values obtained by proposed equation are compared withsimulations.
