Öz Mahmud Darwish was able to mix lyrics with narratives after the convergence of each of dramatic, lyric and narrative poetry especially when literary genres began to quote each other‘s various techniques. This resulted in Darwish‘s complex poetic forms that combine both subjective and objective poetry. Such combination was obvious in his latest collections of poems in the mid eighties when his poems began transformation from direct revolutionary lyric form into a semi prose state with a patent dramatic trend. This study will analyse one of Darwish‘s late poem ―Why Did You Leave the Horse Alone‖ in order to examine one of the techniques which formed a phenomena in Darwish‘s late production—the narrative. However, Darwish‘s poetry was not only narrative, but also it was addressed by various techniques merged together in a formation of modern text which integrates most of the modern poetry techniques combing disguise, irony, drama, conversation, etc. This was divided into: Terminology and criticism of: Modern poetry and narration ―Abadu al-Sabbar‖ narrative literature Dramatical conversation and its relation to Sabbar narrative literature Character building Conclusion Addressing any kind of poetry would be biased to the common poetic experience in forming poetic texts
