Burada mekânı göstergebilim açısından değerlendiren Lotman'ın kuramı ve Sosyolojinin kurucularından sayılan Simmel'in mekân alanındaki çalışması önem kazanmaktadır. Mekânı özne, yani süje, kavramı içerisinde değerlendiren Lotman. üç boyuttan bahsetmektedir: I. Topografya Boyutu 2. Topolojik Boyutu 3. Anlambilimsel Boyutu.

Yade Kara's work Selam Berlin in the perspective of space theory

The concept "space" is not only an important unit of philosophy, but also of science of literature and sociology. Although it occupies these kinds of different areas it is very difficult to specify its boundaries. The main reason of this is that, although the concept place denotes the concrete location of existence, it spread through linites related to space. Also the fact that a space changes according to individuals, societies and moreover changes by itself in time makes it harder to limit the place conceptually. Thus, a place can gain a semantic dimension but of this own topological and topographical structure. So, while the space affects person's lifestyle, culture and language at one hand, on the other, people reshape the meaning they attached to place. The same is true for a place in a piece of literature. As a result of this the concept "space" until be analyzed firstly in the dictionary meaning framework. Since it is hard to specify its limits due to the above-mentioned reasons. Until be limited by the help of the works from other fields. At this point the upper approach to the place in the terms of semiology, Lotman's theory and Simmel's work on place who is considered to be one of the founders of sociology gain importance. Lotman, who considers the place in the concept of 'subject', mentions three dimensions: I. Topographical dimension, 2. Topological dimension. 3. Semantic dimension. While the first two are mostly about the substructure of the place the last one is mostly related to the perception dependent meaning ascribed to the place. Lotman, who mentioned the transparency and thus the transitivity of the place; in the fact emphasizes its impact on the formation of the phenomenon pattern. Contrary to Lotman, Simmel, whose statues that the place is divided with concrete lands in itself and thus difference among place exists, puts emphasizes on that his primary work has the traces on which depict the fact that migrants who migrate from one place to another and settle for living carry the marks indicating that they have come from a different place. In terms of these two approaches, 'Selam Berlin - the work of Yade Kara' who comes from a family lately immigrated to Germany. While Simmels approach gain importance through a families migration to Berlin, Germany and beginning to live there is the subject of the work; on the other hand Lotman's work also gains importance with the newly emerging situation as a result of the fathers passing through the two sides although the new place that they have migrated was separated by the wall imposing concrete rules and control in itself: and the collapse of the wall. The aim of this work is the emphasis the importance of the place concept in order to analyze a literacy work and to provide a different perspective format in relation to it.
