Konvansiyonel eksternal radyoterapi uygulanan glioblastoma multiforme tanılı 40 hastanın irdelenmesi

Amaç: Bu çalışmada yedi yıllık bir periodda takip ve tedavi edilen glioblastoma multiforme tanılı 40 hastanın konvansiyonel eksternal radyoterapi sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Şişli Etfal Hastanesi Radyasyon Onkolojisi Kliniğine 1988-1994 yıllarında müracaat eden glioblastoma multiforme tanılı 40 hasta retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. Yaş, cinsiyet, uygulanan tedavi yöntemleri, ortalama takip süreleri, prognostik faktörler ve hastalık hakkında bilgi verildi. Bulgular: 40 hastanın 24’ü erkek, 16’sı kadındı. Ortalama yaş 51 idi. Hastaların tümüne patolojik tanıyı takiben Co-60 Teleterapi cihazı ile eksternal radyoterapi uygulandı. Tüm hastalar için ortalama takip süresi 6 aydı. Performans durumu değerlendirildi. Sonuç: Radyoterapi uygulanan glioblastoma multiformeli hastalarda en önemli prognostik faktörün performans durumu olduğu sonucuna varıldı.

Evaluation of 40 patients with glioblastoma multiforme exposed to external radiotherapy

Objective: It was aimed to evaluate the results of conventional radiotherapy in 40 glioblastoma multiforme patients treated and followed for seven year period. Methods: Forty patients with glioblastoma multiforme who applied at Radiation Oncology Clinics of ?itli Etfal Hospital between 1988 and 1994 were retrospectively evaluated. Data about age, sex, treatment methods employed, average follow-up period, prognostic factors, and the disease were obtained. Results: 24 out of 40 patients were male and 16 were female. The mean age of the patients was 51 years. Following pathological diagnosis, all patients received external radiotherapy using 60Co Teletherapy device. Average follow-up period was 6 months. Performance status of the patients was assessed. Conclusion: It is concluded that in patients with glioblastoma multiforme performance status is the most important prognostic factor.
