Hemşirelerin COVID-19 Pandemi Sürecindeki Deneyimleri

Amaç: Araştırmanın amacı Türkiye’de görev yapan hemşirelerin COVID-19 pandemisi nedeniyle yaşadıkları sorunları ve deneyimleri belirlemektir. Yöntem: Araştırmanın evrenini Türkiye’de COVID-19 pandemi döneminde çalışan hemşireler oluşturmaktadır. Hemşireler Ekim 2020-Mart 2021 tarihleri arasında Türk Hemşireler Derneği (THD) web sitesi, THD resmi instgram ve facebook adresleri ve whatsappta çevrimiçi yer alan anketi doldurmuşlardır. Ankette yer alan “COVID-19 sürecine yönelik yaşadığınız en önemli sorun nedir?” açık uçlu soruya verilen yanıtlar transkripte edilmiştir. Transkripte edilen ifadelere betimleyici ve yorumlayıcı kodlama yapılarak tema ve alt temalar belirlenmiştir. Bulgular: Hemşirelerin yaş ortalaması 31.95±8.40’dır. Hemşirelerin %83.5’i kadın, %49.7’si 24 saatlik nöbet tutmakta ve %62.2’si haftalık 40-48 saat arasında çalışmaktadır. Açık uçlu soruya verilen yanıtlarda hemşirelerin %98.6’sı COVID-19 sürecinde en az bir sorun yaşadıklarını bildirmiştir. Bu sorunlar üzerinden yapılan içerik analizinde, “aile yaşamı, çalışma koşulları, COVID-19 pandemi süreci, mobinge maruz kalma ve politik kararlar” olmak üzere 5 ana tema belirlenmiştir. Sonuç ve Öneriler: Bu çalışma hemşirelerin COVID-19 pandemi sürecinde yaşadıkları sorunların ve deneyimlerin boyutunu ve etkilerini ortaya koymaktadır. THD, hasta ve çalışan güvenliğini tehlikeye atan durumlara ve hemşirelerin sağlık hizmeti sunumunda yaşadıkları sorunlara dikkat çekerek, hemşirelerin talep ve isteklerini dile getirerek sorunlara çözüm getirilmesini sağlamaya çalışmaktadır.

Experiences of Nurses in COVID-19 Pandemic

Purpose: The study is to determine the problems and experiences of nurses working in Turkey due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Nurses who worked in Turkey during the COVID-19 epidemic comprise the study's population. Nurses completed the online survey between October 2020 and March 2021 on the Turkish Nurses Association (TNA) website, TNA's official instagram and facebook pages, and WhatsApp. What was asked in the poll, "What is the most significant issue you have encountered with the COVID-19 process?" The open-ended question's responses were written down. Applying descriptive and interpretive coding to the transcripted expressions allowed for the identification of themes and sub-themes. Results: The nurses were 31.95±8.40 years old on average. 83.5% of nurses are female, 49.7% work 24-hour shifts, and 62.2% put in between 40 and 48 hours a week. 98.6% of the nurses who responded to the open-ended question stated that they encountered at least one issue while completing the COVID-19 process. Five major themes were identified in the content analysis done on these issues: "family life, working conditions, COVID-19 pandemic process, exposure to mobbing, and political decisions." Conclusion and Suggestions: The results of this study demonstrate the scope and impact of the issues and challenges faced by nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. TNA attempts to address issues by bringing to light circumstances that risk patient and employee safety as well as the challenges faced by nurses in the delivery of healthcare services, as well as by voicing the needs and wishes of the nurses.
