Prof. Dr. Hikmet Yıldırım CELKAN, 1973 yılından beri çalıştığı üniversitelerde akademisyen yetiştirme, bölüm başkanlığı, dekan yardımcılığı ve uzun yıllar dekanlık gibi görevleri üstlenerek eğitimin gelişmesi için çok çaba sarf etmiştir. Eğitim Bilimleri alanında sürekli üreterek, tecrübelerini yeni nesillerle paylaştığı ; telif ve tercümeleri de içeren çeşitli kitap ve kitap bölümlerinin yanı sıra ,yurt içi ve yurt dışında katıldığı bilimsel etkinliklerde sunduğu çalışmaları da bulunmaktadır. Eğitim sosyolojisi alanında eğitmenlere rehber niteliği taşıyan “Eğitim Sosyolojisi” adlı kitabı takdire şayandır. Onun en dikkat çeken özelliği ise, eğitim sosyolojisinin günümüzdeki güncel sorunlarının ve yabancı kültürlerden gelebilecek etkilere karşı eğitimin aksayan yönlerinin altını çizip, çözüm önerileri sunuyor olmasıdır. Bunların yanı sıra Adıyaman ve Kilis illerinde üniversite açılmasında da büyük katkıları olmuştur. Aynı zamanda birçok kulüp ve spor derneğinde yönetim kurulu üyeliği yapan çok yönlü bir eğitimcidir

Prof. Dr. Hikmet Yıldırım Celkan, has made great effort to improve education by taking on tasks such as training academicians , being the head of department, assistant dean and dean for many years at universities where he has been working since 1973. He has various books and book chapters , including copyright and translations, which he constantly produces and shares his experiences with new generations in the field of educational science,as well as studies that he presents in scientific events he attends at home and abroad. His book “Sociology of Education” which is a guide for educators in the field of educational sociology, is worthy of admiration. The most striking feature of him is that he finds solutions to the current issues of educational sociology and underlines the problematic parts of education against the effects of foreign cultures. In addition to all, he made significant contribution to the establishment of universities in Adıyaman and Kilis. He is also an all-round educator who is board member in many clubs and sports associations.
