Yeni bir eğitim paradigması olduğundan dikkatlerin yaşam boyu öğrenme kavramı üzerinde yoğunlaştığı gözlenmektedir. Bu çalışmada yaşam boyu eğitim ve yaşam boyu öğrenmenin tarihi gelişimine kısaca değinilerek bu iki kavram karşılaştırılarak açıklanmıştır. Yaşam boyu öğrenmenin çağdaş bireyin sahip olması gereken özellikler arasında yer aldığı vurgulanarak bireyin gelişimi açısından önemi vurgulanmıştır. Bu bağlamda zorunlu eğitim dönemi olan temel eğitim sürecinde yaşam boyu öğrenme becerilerinin kazandırılması gereğinin altı çizilmiştir. Dolayısıyla, birçok veri tabanına internet kullanılarak ulaşılmış ve çalışmanın amacıyla tutarlı bulunan veriler analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca konu ile ilgili belirlenen kitap ve makaleler de incelenmiştir.
