Bu araştırmanın amacı, üniversite öğrencilerinin utangaçlıklarının önemli yordayıcılarını belirlemektir. Betimsel türden bir çalışma olan bu araştırma Gazi Üniversitesinin Gazi Eğitim Fakültesinde okuyan 202 öğrenciyi kapsamaktadır. Veriler, Utangaçlık Ölçeği, UCLA Yalnızlık Ölçeği, Coopersmith Benlik Saygısı Envanteri ve Geliştirilen Kişisel Bilgi Formu ile elde edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin utangaçlıklarını açıklamada çoklu regrasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulguları, üniversite öğrencileri için özsaygı, algılanan akademik başarı durumu ve annenin eğitim düzeyinin; utangaçlığın önemli yordayıcıları olduğunu göstermiştir.

The purpose of this study is to determine the important indicators of shyness of university students. The study is descriptive and it consists of 202 students who study at Gazi University, Gazi Education Faculty. The data in this study were collected by using Shyness Scale”, “Cooper Smith Self-Esteem Inventory”, “UCLA Loneliness Scale” and Individual information Form that was developed by the researcher. In analyzing the data related to students\' shyness, multi-regression was used. Results indicated that self-esteem; perceived academic achievement and the mother\'s education level are important indicators of shyness.
