Osmanlı sosyo-ekonomik tarihinin önemli kaynaklarından olan temettüât defterleri, ait oldukları dönemin sosyal ve ekonomik özelliklerini yansıtan çok önemli veriler ihtiva etmektedir. Bu çalışmada Tanzimat ile birlikte uygulamaya konulan vergi reformunun bir aracı olan H.1260-61/M.1844-45 temettüât tahrirleri çerçevesinde, Harput şehrinin beş Ermeni mahallesinden birisi olan Asurî Mahallesi hane reislerinin cizye kapsamındaki sosyo-ekonomik durumları çok yönlü olarak sorgulanmakta ve bazı tespitler yapılmaktadır

Temettuât defters, one of the major sources of Otoman socio-economic history of the period, contain important data as regards to the social and economic characteristics of the era they reflect.
