Specific gravity, bending strength and modulus of elasticity of beech wood (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) treated with some wood preservatives

This study was designed for determination of specifıc gravity, bending strength and modulus of elasticity values of beech wood treated with borates such as boric acid (BA), borax (Bx), BA+Bx mixture (7:3; weight:weight) and commercial preservative types chemicals such as ammonium sulphate (AS), di ammonium phosphate (DAP) vacsol (V), and water repellent chemicals (WR) such as styrene (St), methylmetacrylate (MMA), St+MMA mixture, icocyanate (ISO) and have a bulking effect cell wall in wood such as polyethylene glycol-400. Results indicated that the highest retention levels were obtained wood specimens treated with water repellents and secondary treatments on borates with water repellents. Specific gravity values of specimens were highly increased statistical levels treated with sole vvater repellent treatments and secondary vvater repellent treatments on borates (P
