TÜRKøYE’DE YOKSULLUöUN ANALøZø: RASSAL ETKøLER LOGøT MODEL YAKLAùIMI
Yoksulluk araútrmalarnda bireylerin yalnzca bir dönemdeki yoksulluk durumlarnn incelenmesiyoksulluk ile mücadelede çok etkili olmamaktadr. Bireylerin baz dönemlerde yoksul olduklar bazdönemlerde ise gelirlerinin yoksulluk snrnn üstüne çkt÷ düúünüldü÷ünde yoksulluk analizlerininpanel veri ile incelenmesi daha etkin çözümler elde edilmesini sa÷layacaktr. Bu bilgiler do÷rultusunda bu çalúmada TÜøK 2009-2012 dönemi Gelir ve Yaúam Koúullar Araútrmas (GYKA) panelmikro veri anketinden yararlanarak Türkiye’de yoksullu÷un belirleyicileri rassal etkiler logit modelile incelenmiútir. Tahmin sonuçlarna göre hanehalk reisinin kadn olmas, emekli olmas ve ücretlimaaúl çalúmas hanenin yoksulluk riskini önemli ölçüde azaltrken hanehalk reisinin çalúma hayatnda aktif yer almamas ve hanede ba÷ml çocu÷un olmas yoksulluk riskini arttrmaktadr. Bunlaraek olarak hanenin toplam geliri ve hanehalk reisinin e÷itim düzeyi yoksulluk ile mücadele en önemlide÷iúkenler olmaktadr
AN EXAMINATION OF POVERTY IN TURKEY: A RANDOM EFFECTS LOGIT MODEL APPROACH
In poverty studies, the investigation of individuals' poverty situations for one period is ineffective in delaing with poverty. One considers that while individuals are poor in some periods taking into consideration of their incomes are above the poverty line, the examining the poverty analysis with panel data would lead to more effective solutions. In this context, this study examines the determinants of poverty using Turkish Statistical Institute, Income and Living Conditions Survey (SILC) panel micro data for the period of 2009-2012 employing a random effects logit model. According to the results, if the household head is a woman, retired and paid job/salary, the risk of poverty significantly decreases. Furthermore, if the household head is not actively involved in the working life and having dependent children the risk of poverty increase. In addition, the total income of the household and the level of education of the head of the household are the most important variables to struggle with poverty.
