Long and Short Term Impact of Turkish Monetary Policy on Economic Growth

This study empirically examines the effect of monetary policy on economic growth in Turkey using quarterly time series data from 1998 to 2015. Cointegration and error correction model indicate the existence of positive significant long run and short run relationship between monetary policy and economic growth. We suggest that policymakers should focus more on monetary policy in order to ensure economic growth. According to the findings obtained from the results of VEC Error Correction model, monetary policy is effective in Turkish economy.
