ÖZETAğız bölgesinde symptomlar gösteren bazı sistemfik ve metabolik hastalıkların teşhisi ve tedavi için gerekli kllniıklers şevki, diş hekimine düşen görevler arasındadır.Diabetes Mellitus'un teşhisine yarayan testlerden, göz yaşında şeker arama esasına dayanan, steril kağıt bir şerit ve Clinistix test şeridi ile yapılan test ve çekim yerinden, parmak ucu veya diş papiliasından alınan kanla, Dextrostix test şeridi ile yapılan diğer bir test kısaca izah edildi.Bu testlerin diş muayenehanelerinde ve Diş Hekimliği Okullarında uygulanması, halk sağlığına büyük bir hizmet olacaktır kanısındayız.SUMMARYOne of the dentist's duties is to diagnose systemic and metabolic diseases which produce symptoms in the oral area, and to refer the patients to this proper Clinics for treatment.The tear test using Clinistix strip and the blood test using Dextrostix strip for the detection of Diabetes Mellitus have been briefly discussed. The needed drop of blood can be obtained from an alveolar socket after extraction, from the gingiva, or from a finger tip.We believe that it would be a great help to the health of general public to perform these tests in private practice and in Dental Schools.
