Tarihi bir devri anlatan roman, dönemi muhayyilenizde canlandırma imkânı verir. Döneme dair belli bir bilgi altyapısıyla birlikte roman, o dönemi daha iyi tahayyül etme fırsatı sunar. Ortaçağ Avrupa’sının Almanya’sını anlatan bir roman olarak Hermann Hesse’nin Narziss ve Goldmund eseri öne çıkmaktadır. Hesse’nin bu eseri, Ortaçağ Avrupa’sının zihin yapısını anlamada yol göstericidir. Bu çalışmada, tarihi bir dönemin zihniyet yapısını anlatmaya odaklı Narziss ve Goldmund eseri irdelenecektir. Bu mahiyete sahip eserin bu yönüyle okuma biçimi üzerinde durulacaktır.

Novels that describe a historical period give you the opportunity to visualize that period in your imagination. The novel, together with a certain information infrastructure about the period, offers the person the opportunity to better envision the period. Hermann Hesse's Narziss and Goldmund stands out as an important novel about Medieval Europe. This work by Hesse is a guide to understanding the mentality of medieval Europe. In this study, studies of Narziss and Goldmund focusing on explaining the mentality of a historical period will be examined. The work of this nature will be tried to be read from this aspect.
