Yumuşak Çeliğin Asidik Korozyonuna Bir Salisilaaldemin Schiff Bazının İnhibitör Etkisi

Potansiyodinamik polarizasyon, lineer polarizasyon, elektrokimyasal empedans spektroskopisi, elektrokimyasal kuartz kristal mikroterazi ve SEM yöntemleriyle, 0.1M HCl ortamında yumuşak çeliğin korozyonuna bir salisilaldimin Schiff bazı olan 1,4-Bis[2-(2-hidroksibenzilidenamino)fenoksi]bütan’ın inhibitör etkisi araştırılmıştır. Potansiyodinamik polarizasyon ölçümleri Schiff bazının yumuşak çelik için inhibitör özelliğine sahip olduğunu ve bileşiğin katodik inhibitör davranışı sergilediğini göstermiştir. Yapılan tüm ölçümler sonucunda inhibitör etkinliğinin, artan inhibitör derişimi ile arttığı bulunmuştur. İnhibitör etkinliğinin derişimle artmasının molekülün metal yüzeyine adsorpsiyonundan kaynaklandığı ve molekülün metal yüzeyine adsorpsiyon sürecinin Temkin adsorpsiyon izotermine uyduğu saptanmıştır. Elektrokimyasal kuartz kristal mikroterazi ve SEM sonuçları Schiff bazının metal yüzeyine adsorplandığını ve metali korozyona karşı koruduğunu göstermektedir.

The Effect Of A Salisilaldimine Schiff Base On The Acidic Corrosion Of Mild Steel

The effect of a salicylaldimine Schiff base (1,4-Bis[2-(2-hydroxybenzyliden amino) phenoxy]butane) on the corrosion behaviour of mild steel in 0.1M HCl media were investigated by using potentiodynamic polarisation, linear polarisation, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance and SEM methods. Potentiodynamic polarisation measurements indicate that studied Schiff base was acting as cathodic type inhibitor. All electrochemical measurements show that inhibition efficiencies increase with increase in inhibitor concentration. This reveals that inhibitive action of inhibitor was mainly due to adsorption on mild steel surfaces. It was found that adsorption of these inhibitors follows Temkin adsorption isotherm. The results of SEM and EQCM measurements indicate that Schiff base is adsorbed on metal surface and metal is protected against corrosion.
