Variation of the viscosity of (2-phenyl-1,3 Dioxane-4-yl) methyl methacrylate-co-ethyl methacrylate polymer with temperature and concentration

In this study, the effects of temperature and concentration on the viscosity of (2-Phenyl-1,3 Dioxane-4-yl) methylmethacrylate-co-ethylmethacrylate (PDMMA-co-EMA) co-polymer, presented in another study the synthesis data, examined at five different temperatures.. For this, viscosity values were measured using the Ubbelohde type viscometer (capillary no: Ic, ID: 0.84 mm and k: 0.03005). Densities of solutions were measured using Gay–Lussac type pycnometer. The effects of temperature was described by an Arrhenius-type equation and the effect of concentration was described by two types of equation, power-law and exponential. Equations were derived which describes the combined effects of temperature and concentration on the viscosity for two different models in the rang of temperatures and concentrations studied. The activation energy is ranges between 4.07-11.87 kJ / mol.
