Sözlü gelenekte her bir tür kendine ait özellikler taşımaktadır. Efsane, masal, destan ve hikâye türü, yaygınlık ve çeşitlilik noktasında, sözel ürünlerin en çok incelenen alanları olmuştur. Pertev Naili Boratav, bu çalışmasında da, Er Töştük, Köroğlu kolları ve birkaç hikâye metni vererek, ele aldığı konuyu anlaşılır kılmıştır. Sözlü metinlerin arasındaki geçişme, Boratav’m bu yazıda üzerinde durduğu konulardandır. Anlatım/icra ve metinlerin yapısındaki değişmelerin boyutu bir başka açıdan ele alınmıştır.

İn the oral tradition, every species has its own special characteristic. The most studied fıelds of oral material has becom e legends, tales, epics, and folktales as a specise in the point of vvidespreadness and variety. Pertev Naili Boratav has tried to explain his subject mater giving some texts about Er Töştük, the branch of Köroğlu, and a few text of folktales in this studying. In this artical Boratav emphasised the subject the transitition that is among the oral texts. İt has been examined the variations of narıation/performance, and the structure of the texts in another point of wiev.
