Sink mixer design for visual perceptions of users by logistic regression

In this study; a two-stage integrated approach is proposed and implemented to explore user senses about sink mixers and optimization of design levels for visual perceptions. At the first stage, users have been asked to judge 38 different mixer designs by using a semantic differential (SD) scale for 11 image (kansei) words about their visual perceptions. Then the relationships between general preference and kansei scores of users are investigated by Linear Regression and Ordinal Logistic Regression (OLOGREG). At the second stage; the best design parameter levels for visual perceptions are determined to maximize general preference scores by OLOGREG, and the results are validated. This study proposes an approach that can be used for user centered product design in general and demonstrates it for the design of sink mixers.
