The purpose of this study is to develop "Metal Industry Job Grading System - MUGS" used to evaluate blue-collar jobs in terms of factors, their weights and level definitions and also the evaluation of all the blue-collar jobs in a medium-sized stove manufacturer by using the MUGS and the revised system. It was prepared in 1981, and expanded in 1996. In this system, "Education", Knowledge", "Concentration", "Job Flow" and also "HRM Responsibility" which is required to assess the supervisors are added to MUGS. Taking into consideration with the developments in technology and working environmental conditions, the level definitions of the other factors are revised. The weights of all the factors are determined by using questionnaires answered by the managers in the company. 96 blue-collar jobs identified are evaluated according to both the MUGS and the revised system by applying the questionnaire and interview job analysis methods, and some essential results are discussed.
