REALITY THERAPY: CHARACTERISTICS, BASIC CONCEPTS, TREATMENT, IMPLEMENTATION AND ASSESSMENT

The Reality Therapy which was developed by William Glasser in 1960s is built on cognitive behavioral theory and interventions. However, the reality therapy is more philosophical than cognitive behavioral approaches; it emphasizes more on the process and responsibility than the consequences. The basis of the reality therapy is to assist the individuals in making their own choices in accordance with their needs without harming the others. .This approach is particularly preferred at schools and substance abuse clinics. This study includes the introduction to the reality therapy, its characteristics, significant theoretical concepts and it also includes the treatment process, implementation and assessment issues.
