A FIRM-LEVEL ANALYSIS ON THE DETERMINANTS OF EXPORT PERFORMANCE

Exports are seen as the engine of economic development for both developed and developing countries. For this reason, countries attach importance to increasing and developing their export potential. The success of countries in export depends very much on the characteristics of exporting firms. Therefore, it is important to reveal the factors that affect the export performance of firms. From this perspective, the main purpose of the current study is to reveal the main determinants of exports in the sample of companies operating in the furniture industry. In the first model created based on the survey data obtained for this purpose, the number of employees, the presence of the foreign trade unit and the export experience are seen as the most important determinants of the export performance of the firms, while the presence of the R&D unit and the presence of the website in the foreign language are determined in the second model.
