VERGİ GELİRLERİ, KENTLEŞME VE DEMOKRASİ: G20 ÜLKELERİ ÜZERİNE EKONOMETRİK BİR ÇALIŞMA
Bu çalışmada, kentleşme ve demokrasi faktörlerinin vergi gelirleri üzerindeki etkisi G20 ülkeleri açısından ampirik olarak incelenmektedir. Bu amaçla, G20 ülkeleri için 2005-2018 dönemini kapsayan bir araştırma yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın bağımlı değişkeni vergi gelirleri (%GSYİH)’dir. Bağımsız değişken olarak kentleşme oranı, demokrasi düzeyi, kişi başına GSYİH, ticari açıklık ve literatürde yer alan çalışmalardan farklı olarak demokrasi ve kentleşmenin moderatör etkisi kullanılmıştır. Sistem-Genelleştirilmiş Momentler Metodu (GMM) tahmincisinden istifade edilerek elde edilen bulgular kentleşme oranı ve demokrasi düzeyinin vergi gelirlerini istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ve olumlu etkilediğini ortaya koymaktadır. Özetle, söz konusu ülkelerde uygulanan/uygulanacak vergi politikalarında farklı sınıfların tercihlerinin etkili olduğu görülmektedir.
