Yaşlı İstismarı Ve Önlenmesi

Yaşlılar dünya popülasyonunun en hızlı artan bölümüdür. 2020 yılına kadar tüm popülasyonun % 22’sinin 65 yaş üzerinde olacağı tahmin edilmektedir. Yaşlı istismarı her yıl yaşlıların büyük çoğunluğunu etkileyen ciddi ve kompleks bir sağlık konusu olarak tanınmaktadır. Eş ve çocuk istismarı yıllardır tanınmasına rağmen, yaşlı istismarı son 25 yıldır dikkati çeken bir fenomendir. Yaşlıların yaklaşık olarak %3-4’ü, yaşlı istismarı ve ihmalinin kurbanıdır. Sağlık bakım profesyonelleri-özellikle hemşireler-yaşlı istismarını ortaya çıkarma, yönetme ve önlemede anahtar bir role sahiptir. Bu makalenin amacı; yaşlı istismarı risk faktörleri ve istismarının önlenmesi konusunda bilgi vermektir

ELDER ABUSE AND PREVENTION

The elderly are the fastest growing segment of the population in the world. It’s estimated that by the year 2020, a full 22% of the population will be aged 65 or older. Elder abuse has been recognized as a serious an complex health issue affecting large numbers of elders each year. Although sposual and child abuse have been recognized for many years, abuse of elderly people is a phenomenon that has attracted interest for the last 25 years. Approximately %3 to %4 of the elder are victims of elder abuse and neglect. Health care professionalsparticularly nurses-have a key role to recognize, manage and prevent elder abuse. The purpose of this articles, provides information about the risk factors for elder abuse and gives information about the prevention for abuse
