Logotherapy in Counseling

Logotherapy, revealed as the 3rd Vienna Psychotherapy School of Thought, is a helping method which emphasizes the human beings’ search for meaning and purpose in life, and humanizes the therapeutic process in counseling. Logotherapy, stating that psychological disorders derive from existential vacuum of the spirit,  focuses on existential analysis of life. In this regard, the basic purpose of the study, considered as a literature review, was to introduce logotherapy by examining it profoundly, and to present its unique aspects effectively. The study, which gave the information about the phiolosophical roots of logotherapy, the roles of logotherapists, and its application techniques, demonstrated the differences between logotherapy and the other approaches in counseling. In addition, the study showed the elements/ways of making life meaningful in logotherapy. Thus, it was summarized that logotherapy highlights unrestricted freedom of human spirit and states that the chance of changing life is in the hands of human beings.
