Görüngübilimciliğin (fenomenoloji) kurucusu Husserl, günümüzde etkisi devam eden ve halen tartışılan en büyük fi lozofl ardandır. Özneyle nesne arasındaki ilişkileri gözlemek amacıyla “şeylere dönüş” sloganını atıp, olguların nasıl meydana geldikleri sorusunu ön safhaya getirip, Descartes’ın ardından benlik gerçeğini yeniden ele alarak, öznenin olgularla olan ilişkisinin bilinç yoluyla olduğunu dile getirip bilincin yönelim özelliğini kanıtlamıştır. Belli bir sentez arayışında olmasına karşın sisteme çevirmekten kaçınarak analizlerindeki yaklaşımlarını inceliği ve ısrarlı titizliği ile yarattığı yeni yaklaşımlarla dolaylı ya da dolaysız Varoluşçuluk’un gelişiminde rol oynamıştır. Her bilincin bir şeyin bilinci olduğu gerçeğine ulaşarak XX. yüzyıl felsefesini katkılarıyla yenilemiştir

Husserl, founder of phenomenology, is one of the great philosophers whose infl uence can still be felt and is still discussed today. In order to observe the relationships between the object and the subject, not only did he abolish the concept “return to things” but he also brought forward the question of how phenomenons come into being. After Descartes, he, too approached the subject of individualism and he prooved the orientation property of consciousness by stating that the relationship between subject and phenomenon is materialized through consciousness. Even though he was in search of a certain synthesis, he played a direct or an indirect role in the development of Existensialism by abstaining from transforming his approaches into a system and by opening up new ways with his insistent meticulousness in his analysises. He renewed the philosophy of the twentieth century by reaching the fact that each consciousness is the consciousness of something else
