Epidermoid Cysts Of The Testis: A Report Of Three Cases

Testicular epidermoid cyst is a rare entity that accounts for approximately 1-2 % of all intratesticular tumors. Although the histogenesis of the lesion is not clear, its biological behaviour is benign. It is seen frequently in right testis and on the 2nd and 4th decades. It has to be distinguished from teratomas and dermoid cysts and due to the malignant potential of teratomas, this differential diagnosis has a significant value. Mass lesions of left testis were found in three cases; ultrasonography findings and tumor markers lead to preoperative diagnosis of testicular tumor and subsequently, orchiectomy was performed. At the histopathological investigation, the cysts lined by keratinized squamous epithelium overlying dense fibrous tissue were observed and diagnosis as epidermoid cyst. Epidermoid cyst of testis, being as a rare entity, is presented and discussed by means of literature.
