Some Vertebrate Invasive Alien Species distributed in Türkiye

In this article, three alien/invasive species in the list of “The World’s 100 Worst Invasive Species” published by IUCN and two alien species that are not on this list, but which are thought to pose a serious problem in Türkiye, are included. These species are the Prussian Carp (Carassius gibelio) native to Central Asia, the Coypu (Myocastor coypus) native to South America, the Red-cheeked Turtle (Trachemys scripta elegans) native to South America, Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri) and Eastern Mosquitofish (Gambusia holbrooki), which natural range is eastern North America. Specific to these five species, it is aimed to evaluate the negative effects of alien/invasive species on the nature and socio-economy of Türkiye and to contribute to the taking of necessary precautions.
