This study deals with Abd al-Kahir al Jurjani’s thoughts on concept of eloquence (fesâhat) in the context of his opinions on statement and language. He uses the concept of eloquence in order to examine the characteristics of rhetorical statements. He examines the Qur’anic texts, Arabic poems and reaches to some conclusions about the utterances that take role in forming a rhetorical statement, about the language system (el-nahu), about reason and about psychological and sociological dimensions (feelings thoughts, emotions and cultural dimension) of meaning
