Makale,  Osmanlıların Avrupa'ya yaptıkları ilk seferlerden itibaren, Osmanlı ve Avrupa arasındaki ilişkilerin,  Avrupa'nın siyasi ve dini yapısındaki etkisini ortaya koymaya çalışmaktadır. Osmanlıların Avrupa'daki ilerleyişi sayesinde Katolik- Protestan mücadelesi Protestanlık lehine sonuçlanmıştır. Osmanlılara karşı mücadele edebilmek için Almanya birlik içinde olmak zorunda kalmıştır. Bu mecburiyet Katoliklerin Protestanlara daha fazla taviz vermelerine neden olmuştur. Bunun yanısıra Protestan hükümdarların Papa ile ilişkisini kesmesi Avrupa da milli hükümet fikrini de ortaya çıkarmıştır. Protestanlık hareket önemli ölçüde Osmanlılar sayesinde olmuştur denilebilir. 

This article tries to reveal the influence of Ottoman and European relations on the political and religious structure of Europe from the first campaigns of the Ottomans to Europe. Thanks to the progress of the Ottomans in Europe, the Catholic-Protestant struggle has been concluded in favor of Protestantism. In order to fight against the Ottomans, Germany had to be in unity. This obligation has led Catholics to make more concessions to the Protestants. In addition, the relationship between the Protestant rulers and the Pope has also led to the idea of ​​a national government in Europe. The Protestant movement can be said to have been made considerable thanks to the Ottomans.
