Louis Massignon, İslam Araştırmaları ve Katolik-Müslüman İlişkileri: Massignon Efsanesi Üzerine Eleştirel Bir Bakış

Louis Massignon (1883-1962) özellikle Hallac ve İslam tasavvufu konusunda çalışmış önemli bir oryantalisttir. Kendisi ve eserleri hakkında yazılanlar onun etrafında bir mit oluşturmuştur. Bu makalenin amacı, onun eserleri üzerine bir inceleme olmayıp, daha ziyade oluşan bu mit üzerine eleştirel bir bakış ortaya koymaktır. Bu bağlamda öncelikle kısaca onun yaşamından söz edilmiş ve hayatındaki önemli kırılma noktalarına değinilmiştir. İkinci olarak İslam üzerine yaptığı çalışmaların yansımaları ele alınmış ve oryantalizm bağlamındaki yeri üzerinde durulmuştur. Son olarak ise Massignon’un Katolik-Müslüman ilişkilerindeki rolü ve II. Vatikan Konsili metinlerinde Müslümanlardan söz eden Nostra Aetate ve Lumen Gentium gibi belgeler üzerindeki etkisi tartışılmıştır.
